Set up the pair in Audio MIDI Setup.

Apple includes everything required to create a combined output. Set aside a few minutes and keep both displays connected.

Open Audio MIDI Setup.
Find it in Applications → Utilities, then choose Window → Show Audio Devices if the device list is hidden.

Create an Aggregate Device.
Click the + button below the device list and choose Create Aggregate Device.

Add both Studio Displays.
Tick each display in the Use column. Keep their sample rates identical and enable drift correction for the secondary display.

Assign left and right.
Click Configure Speakers, choose Stereo, then map the left display to the left channel and the right display to the right channel.

Select the aggregate as your output.
Choose it from Control Center → Sound. Play a familiar stereo track and confirm each side with the test controls.

The catch

The volume keys stop working.

The aggregate exposes separate device levels instead of one software-controlled master volume. macOS therefore greys out its normal system volume control. You can adjust each display inside Audio MIDI Setup, but that is awkward for everyday listening.

Each Studio Display still contains its own speaker array, but the combined system sends the left program channel to one display and the right channel to the other.

Can I swap which display is left?
